A leading mid-sized specialty chemical manufacturer is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Logistics Supervisor to join their growing Operations team.

This position will be responsible for building a strong freight and warehouse network to ensure inter-plant and customer shipments are as efficient as possible, and supporting and implementing processes for efficient internal product movement. You will provide assistance on transport planning for local, import and export operations, establishing and maintaining strong relationships with logistics providers and freight forwarder vendors. Customer satisfaction and OTIF delivery KPIs will be crucial, as well as the enhanced use of SAP to improve processes and transparency.

Your role will comprise supplier management, freight and warehousing, inventory reconciliation, general supply chain support, SAP utilisation, certification, and providing assistance to Supply and Demand Planning departments. Supplier management will see you preparing and submitting requests for new partner records, managing orders for external warehousing/ storage suppliers, and invoice approvals. Freight and warehousing is a core component of the role, which will require you to manage the flow of raw material and finished goods for both regional and global location shipments. All of this must be effectively tracked and processed in SAP, with regular supplier evaluation to ensure timely delivery and troubleshoot any other issues.

Building out a strong network of 3PL providers is highly important, as well as the critical evaluation of continuously improved logistics setups including 4PL/TMS alternatives. You must also collaborate closely with colleagues at other company sites to support production schedules and order fulfilment across the wider business. Whilst not a direct manager, you will have the support of Logistics Assistants and Warehouse Operatives, who you must work with to direct their workload and maximise efficiency. The successful candidate should maintain up-to-date knowledge of international freight trends (all modes), and SAP developments.

For this position, it is essential you have:

  • BS degree or above in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related subject.
  • 7+ Years’ experience in a Logistics Operations/ Warehousing role.
  • Experience directly/ indirectly leading small teams.
  • Experience in a specialty chemical manufacturing setting, or related industry, such as pharma, water, ingredients, or food and beverage.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work with all functions and levels within the business.
